Author Spotlight: Isabelle Drake 'Unfinished Business' #mustread @isabelledrake

She ran away from the town that wouldn’t forget, to a city that doesn’t forgive, right into the arms of the guy who insists she set things right.
Less than a year ago, Hayley Jones made a scandalous decision that sent her packing. She left her country hometown, moved to the city and made a new life for herself. But it’s hard being someone else when the real you has some unfinished business.
Hayley knows taking care of the unresolved piece of her past could stir up more trouble and humiliation, so she dodges the truth and puts her energy into her new friends and job. That strategy works for a short while but people from her past start showing up in her present.
Life gets even more complicated when she realizes she’s falling for Nick Noel, a guy who knows she’s running from something, and continually challenges her to be herself. But Hayley is afraid of what will happen if Nick finds out who she really is and what she did back home.

Author Bio:
Thrill-seeking risk takers, heroes with the dark past, sexy locales, untamed women! Isabelle Drake writes stories featuring men and women who aren't afraid to go after what they want. An avid traveler, she'll go just about anywhere--at least once--to meet people and get story ideas.

While writing my new novel, Unfinished Business, I worked to come up with a way to challenge my main character, Hayley. After suffering through a really public, humiliating scandal, she’s moved from her country hometown to the city of Detroit, Michigan. She’s started fresh with new friends, new clothes and an edgy attitude. Her plan, avoid anything having to do with the country and anyone who will expose her past. At the start of the story she’s totally ready to have some spur-of-the-moment random sex because she thinks that’s way to figure herself out. Readers will catch on pretty quick to the idea that while satisfying in the short term, getting naked with a guy she’s not that into isn’t really going to help her comes to terms with her past.

What guy will offer the acceptance she craves and challenge her to get over her past? A man who loves her for who she is.  The catch? He’s from the country, too. So loving him will force her to find a way to love the part of herself she hates.

In this excerpt, we get a glimpse of that building conflict and a hint of her true feelings for Nick.

About a minute later, Nick and I pull into the VFW lot, and he glides around looking for a place to park. He finds a space behind a red F-150 pickup truck that has a white window decal of a woman’s silhouette on the driver’s side. She’s flexing her biceps and grinning from beneath wind-blown hair. It reads—‘Fear This City Boy’. Nick stares at it then at the one on the passenger side that reads—‘Redneck Girl’. He points and laughs. “I feel right at home.”

I should but I don’t. I can already feel the weight of the stares and hear the whispers of rumors. I turn away from Nick as I cringe, feeling like maybe I should tell him about my past. It’d be better if he heard it from me but my stomach turns sour just thinking about saying the words aloud. My own stupidity and shame swirl in my heart and make my chest hot.
I’m just not ready. Yet.

All Romance eBooks-

Chapter one- free read:

“You smell so good.” Evelyn buried her nose in Pen’s shirt as he hugged her tight. She couldn’t quite place all the nuances to his scent. Trees and summertime wrapped in cinnamon toast? Whatever it was, it was delicious and so damn perfect. She wanted to have everything she owned smell like him, so when she’d had a stressful day she could roll herself up in a blanket and inhale relaxation.
“So do you,” he mumbled against her hair, while rubbing his chin against her head.
“Can we just stand like this for a while? I’ve had a hell of a day.”
“Sure, cor meum. I will gladly hold you until the end of time if you wish it.”
Time slowed to the rhythm of his heartbeat. Nothing else in the world mattered for the moments she relaxed into his embrace, letting his strength and energy lull her senses into a state of ease. Each breath she took mirrored his, drawing peace into her body. The day’s events slowly slid from her mind, leaving her heart and mind open.
Finally the smell of food invaded her cocoon of contentment and her stomach announced with a loud growl that she hadn’t fed it in hours. She grinned and kissed Penemuae’s chest, pushing reluctantly away from the warmth, patting his shirt before looking up. “Guess I need to eat something before my belly digests itself.”
The smile, full of affection and something deeper, that spread across his face was blindingly beautiful. She blinked a few times to stem the burn of tears. No one in her life had ever looked at her with that mixture of emotions, so openly sharing his feelings. Reaching up and lightly cupping his ears she pulled his head down to hers. She kissed him lightly, pressing her lips to his, and tried to tell him with the touching of flesh and sharing of breath how much she appreciated everything. Two days had opened her heart to something she’d never believed in before. Fated love, soul mates, something deeper than instant infatuation.

Pulling back from her impromptu kiss she found him grinning down at her. She blushed, cheeks heating under the hint of amusement in his dark eyes. Even with what she was sure was a red face, puffy eyes and swollen lips she answered his smile. She felt lighter, had cast off some of the sorrow from the day.

Big and Blue? #SexyAlien Author Spotlight: Sue Lyndon 'Big Blue Valentine' .99 #mustread @SueLyndon

Big Blue Valentine: A Sci-Fi Alien Romance by Sue Lyndon

In my new release, Big Blue Valentine, Princess Minnie makes a big mistake and gets into trouble with her husband, Prince Zak, who happens to be a bit of a spanker. She knows he’s going to discipline her, but she never imagined he might spank her while she’s taking a bath…

Big Blue Valentine excerpt:

“I didn’t forget Valentine’s Day, by the way. You turned me blue for nothing.”
She clutched the sides of the tub. “What do you mean?”
“Prince Attab’s ship didn’t really get delayed, and I wasn’t supposed to fill in for him in Parliament today. I planned to take you on a sky cruise and I had to see about the final preparations, so I thought to trick you into thinking I’d forgotten to make the surprise all that much sweeter.” He paused rubbing her leg. “I thought you might pout a bit, but I never imagined you’d poison me.”
“I didn’t poison you! Zak, I knew for a fact the lemon wouldn’t really harm you. It was an impulsive, ridiculous thing to do, and I really am sorry. I won’t do it again.”
He arched an eyebrow at her and resumed cleansing her legs. “After the spanking I’m about to give you, I imagine you won’t even want to look at lemons again.”
She opened her mouth to argue, but clamped her lips together at his stern look. “I suppose I do deserve a spanking,” she eventually said.
“A hard spanking on your bare bottom,” he amended, placing the washcloth down. He pushed his sleeves up higher and studied her for a long, tense moment. “You’ll take your punishment right now, right here in the bathtub, Minnie. Turn over on your hands and knees and lift your naughty bottom up in the air.”
This time she couldn’t refrain from arguing. “But I’m all wet! Can’t I dry off first? Then you can punish me in our bedroom like you normally do.” She started to rise from the water, but Zak placed a steadying hand on her shoulder.
“Obey me, Minnie, and present your bottom for punishment.”

Big Blue Valentine blurb:

It’s probably not smart to turn a powerful alien prince blue on purpose, but when Princess Minnie thinks her husband, Zak, forgot Valentine’s Day, she impulsively squeezes a lemon slice into his drink. She knows full well the effect lemon has on Aklannians. Now it’s just a matter of time before his golden skin turns a brilliant shade of blue. She plots to have him called back from Parliament so she can confess her naughtiness to him in private, but the scheme blows up in her face.

Prince Zak can’t believe someone slipped lemon into his drink, causing him to postpone his Valentine’s Day surprise for Minnie. But he’s even more stunned to discover his own wife is behind his sudden change in color. Big, blue, and infuriated, he storms through the palace halls in search of his wayward princess. She has some explaining to do.

Big Blue Valentine is available for the low low price of 99 cents. It’s also enrolled in Kindle Unlimited, so KU members can borrow and read it for free.

“I’ll admit I’ve had many women in the past, and I can’t apologize for living. But as the years went by, my feelings for you were always someplace deep in my heart. I know that’s why I can’t settle down. Why I can’t find the peace I’ve been searching for. It doesn’t exist without you.”
“How can you say things like that? You don’t even know the woman I’ve become. I’m not that girl who relied on you, the one who would’ve followed you anywhere. I’m not her anymore, Nic. I can’t ever be her again.”
“Maybe I’m not asking for her.” He leaned closer to her face. “Maybe I want to know the woman you are today. I want another shot at this.”
“No,” she whispered.
“If you remember anything about me, I have a hard time with that word.” He tipped her chin, focusing on her lips. “I am going to kiss you. Right here and right now.”
Her knees buckled as a cool tremor swept through her. She wanted to say no. It was the only logical word to mutter, but her heart didn’t want her to say it. Her body wasn’t on board with turning him down either. The warmth that built in her stomach had moved lower, and now all she could think about was his lips on hers.
“It doesn’t sound like you’re asking,” she breathed out.
“I’m not.”
Before she could say anything else, his mouth was on hers, eager, but slow and soft. His stubble grazed along her chin as he tilted his head and deepened their bond. The sound throughout the crowded lobby seemed to fade into the background, and soon, all she could hear was her heart pumping loud between her ears. Why did he have to be such a freakin’ good kisser?
After the incredibly long connection, he pulled away, but not before stopping to kiss the bottom corner of her mouth like he used to.
“I’ve waited a long time to do that,” he said. “It was worth every lonely minute.”
“I... Nic...” She’d always had the gift of words. It was what she did for a living, but in that moment, all of her thoughts were jumbled and senseless.
“It’s okay.” He grinned as he stroked her cheek. “Let’s get something to eat and maybe figure this out. Whatever this is.”
“No.” She ran her hands along his strong chest, resting them on his shoulders.
“Don’t over analyze this, baby.” He glanced down at her hands on his body. “Let’s just go with it.”
“That’s what I’m trying to tell you.” She took a breath and continued before she lost her nerve. “Take me upstairs to your room. I know how we can figure this out.”
“What are you asking?” He placed his hand on the small of her back, drawing her closer to him. “You need to be real clear.”
“I want to go upstairs with you.”
“That’s not why I kissed you.”
“Isn’t it?” She smirked. “We’re adults now, Nicky. Let’s settle this like adults.”
“I’m not looking to settle anything. That usually means it’s over, and we’re nowhere near over.” He motioned for Joe. “I’ll take care of the bar tab and then we’ll get dinner.”
“No.” She draped her arms around his neck, intoxicated by the idea of being so close to him again. He may be older now, and may have lost those boyish looks, but the man he had become suited him and drove her wild with need.
“What did I tell you about that word?”
“I can guarantee I won’t be using it once we’re in your bedroom.” She ran her tongue along her top lip. “I’m going to the ladies room. When I come out, if you’re not by the elevators waiting for me, I’ll know that kiss was nothing more than the heat of the moment and we can go on with our lives.”
“Shh.” She pressed her lips to his. “Now who’s over analyzing?” She reached for her purse and coat hanging on the back of the stool. “I’ll see you in a few minutes.” I hope.

This is book 2 in the Kingston Heat Series but both books stand alone and can be read in either order.

Author Spotlight: Draven St. James ~ Wolf's Sacrifice #mustread #gayrom #LGBT @DravenstJames

Sean Maddox has one basic goal: to protect the Northwest Pack. That priority helps him stay grounded—until the day the pack rescues Liam. Suddenly Sean is finding any excuse to be around the sweet, blind shifter. But trying to focus his thoughts on keeping Liam safe and not exploring the whole laundry list of carnal fantasies he's been having is anything but grounding. It doesn't help that Sean's wolf makes it damn clear it believes Liam belongs to him.

From the first deep breath of Sean Maddox's intoxicating scent, all Liam wants to do is strip naked for the sexy beta and let the wolf claim him. Hiding away his desires seems like the best plan, given after a lifetime in captivity Liam is just learning what it means to be free. What does he know about being a mate? More to the point, would Sean even want him if he knew the truth?

As Sean and Liam struggle with their growing craving for each other an old enemy steps out of the shadows. With secrets lurking and fate twisting two worlds together a sacrifice must be made, but can the two mates live with the consequences?

While he was certain Liam didn't intend for it to be a sensual strip tease, Sean's mind drifted in that direction anyway. Birds sang and the wind bellowed, while Liam's hands danced over the contours of his body.
"I can feel you staring at me," Liam accused, although amusement colored his words. The levity kept him from turning away and giving Liam privacy.
"I'm just standing here," he replied in a low rough voice. Standing there envisioning someplace much more private so he could do wicked things he shouldn't be considering.
"Uh huh." Liam shrugged his shirt from his shoulders and Sean bit his lip to keep his groan at bay. Screw the water, he wanted to press the man to the ground and lick him from head to toe.
Facing him directly as though Liam could actually see him, Liam toed of his shoes and shimmied out of his pants. He did manage to keep on a snug pair of black boxer briefs Sean had taken him shopping to get.
Deep breathes. Deep breathes.
"No more than this," Liam said with a stubborn twist to his lips. The words effectively jerked him into the present. "I may not be able to see you looking at me, but I can feel it."
"Oh?" His curiosity peaked at that admission, but he left the statement alone, for now. Deep within he wanted to know everyone about Liam, but didn't want to push so hard the man locked him out. The last thing he needed was for Liam to know how much he wanted him to remove that last scrap of clothing.
"Well?" Liam held his hand out. "I need some direction here."
Sean grinned and closed the distanced between them. He laced their fingers together and directed Liam toward the edge of the water. "The rocks are a bit slippery, so be careful."
He waded into the chilly water and towed Liam in after him, not surprised when the man gasped, "Shit, that's cold. Are you sure we should be doing this?"
"I swim here every morning. Your body will adjust."
"Or you're crazy," Liam muttered under his breath. "It'll adjust when hypothermia sets in."
He chuckled and carefully turned away from the lake so he could direct Liam out into the water. "Come on. Today I won't throw you into the deep. It will be about getting you comfortable with the water."
"Define comfortable? You'll leave me in here until I'm too numb to climb out?"
"No, smartass," Sean responded with a snort. "It's about you feeling the stones under your feet and the slight current along your body."
Liam's face crinkled into a looked of disgust. "It feels gross down there."
"There is moss covering the floor of the lake. I promise it isn't anything that is going to come out and grab you." Sean brushed his thumb over Liam's hand in reassuring gesture. "I'll protect you."
"Somehow that sounded condescending."
"I know this lake like the back of my hand. I've been swimming here since I was a boy. I probably can map out about every rock."
The chill from the water was a relief from the heat the sight of Liam's nearly naked form inspired. The man's pale body reflected off the surface of the water, his narrow waist, and slim toned torso. The fall of his hair danced around his shoulders from the soft breeze that blew across the lake. His brow furrowed in concentration.
Sean had never taken anyone to the lake with him. He considered it a private place, one he now shared with the puzzling man before him. A man who he wanted to unraveled to reveal all his secrets and protect him from any harm that may still be lurking in the shadows. Now if Liam weren't so damn stubborn.

A wave of anticipation had her stifling a grin with a grime-coated palm.

Emotions not her own flooded her with glee. Blood-lust and redemption filled her body, bursting with heat and flames she didn’t understand but reveled in non-the-same. Her eyes widened. Someone was ready to tackle the two goons in front of her and she was absolutely certain the feelings she had coursing through her veins were his. How that was possible had her struck dumb for an instant until the demon-things yanked her from her stupor.

She needed to escape. The itch starting in her bones urged her to narrow her focus again to the alleyway. If she could run to her car before the arriving entity showed up she might just make it out without being touched again by the slimy Smokey. Or turned into whatever the hell-spawn an Nephilum was by the other monster. Even the new energy cascading through her body gave her shivers. Predator was too soft a word for the violence she felt coming. The prehistoric part of her mammal brain urged her to flee, hide, escape before the big bad whatever made it to the dark alley.

As slowly as she could she rose to her feet, staying hidden behind the dumpster, and backed farther into the shadows. No point in giving anyone an easy way to see her. Swallowing back the vomit that rose and burned her throat she tried to stem the gagging. What in the hell was this restaurant making that caused such noxious garbage?

A solid, heavy-booted thump above her head stilled Evelyn’s movements. Who ever felt the overwhelming joy at killing the monsters in the alley had arrived. The hairs on the back of her neck tingled. Vibrations shook from the ground as if it too knew someone important had arrived. Even the air paused, silent of every noise but the hissing and growling of the pair grappling in the mucky dark.

Didn’t they feel the presence? The absolute power emanating from the being looking down on them all? Fear warred with wonder as she waited. Too scared to look up but too interested to continue creeping toward the exit. Evelyn stood still and held her breath.

What came swooping into her line of sight wasn’t at all what she’d expected. Or perhaps he was exactly what she’d expected in the bizarre scene in front of her. The beautiful stranger dressed in black and toting a gleaming sword seemed to fit the scene, as if it’d been all scripted for a blockbuster action film. He silently landed in a perfect crouch on the balls of his booted-feet, ready for action. Even as his lips peeled back in a grimace she felt a surge of triumph and retribution blast through her, funneled through some strange connection with the warrior poised for action.

At the same moment as she stood dumbfounded and staring the two nephilum realized what, or whom, had arrived to disrupt their fun. They stopped fighting and turned together to watch the man. Evelyn wanted to think both Smokey and General Evil moved away from the crouched figure, but she could have been imagining it.

Smokey broke the silence with a hiss. “Watcher.”

Long Time No Blog....

How you all been? I've had a lot going on between taking a new job, dealing with two teenagers and a minion... and writing! :)

I've been working on the first of a new series, have worked on the next Coyote Bluff book and have about a million ideas. 2015 is going to be my year. <3

I'll be posting stuff more often and maybe will even bring back Tattoo Tuesdays.
