When the Darkness Falls
Bloghop and Giveaway
July 13th thru July 21st
In celebration of a Friday the 13th AND it being Ms. Hennessee Andrews' Birthday... we are having a blog hop!

I sort of wish I wrote horror so I could put a scary snippet up, but I don't. So, instead, I went looking for the history of Friday the 13th. It seems to stem from a multitude of superstitions that all came together around 1907. Fridays have been looked at as "bad" for some time. Travelers in the 1800's would refuse to begin a journey on a Friday in hopes of avoiding it's influence. In 1907 a novel was written that seems to have sparked the whole phenomenon.
Dan Brown also incorporated the myth of Friday the 13th's in The Da Vinci Code. There seems to be just enough pop-culture references throughout the years to continue feeding the superstition. Of course, the movies have put a whole new spin on the fear and for most of us that is what drives the superstition. By the way, watch the first one sometime. They are quite hokey, but the legend of how scary they are carry over to this day. Just ask any pre-teen around the first Friday the 13th of the year.
I'm going to make this very simple. Leave me a comment with your email addy and you will be entered to win a copy of any of my backlist OR a copy of Valentine Master than releases July 25th!
You can click HERE to read the blurb for each of my current releases.
Valentine Master:
Heather’s marriage is on the rocks and she knows it. Since she told her
husband, Mick, that she craved domination in the bedroom, he’s been
secretive and strange, spending his evenings away from home. All
Heather’s expecting as a Valentine’s Day surprise is divorce papers.
So when she comes home from work to find Mick randy and ready to go with a kinky box of tricks, Heather can hardly believe her luck. Mick has mastered his reluctance to dominate his wife – and now he’s going to master her.

ReplyDeleteMy wedding anniversary landed on Friday the 13th a few times and the day must have been good - the marriage lasted for thirty years(my husband died). So, I don't think of it as bad luck. Of course, when I was a teen, I thought the 13th was thrilling, because something was bound to happen!

That definitely is good luck! Thanks for leaving a comment.
DeleteI have been superstitious about Friday the 13th for many years and today proved me right yet again. I am NEVER working on Friday the 13th again if I don't have to.
