New Years Eve- What do I want to do next year?

This year has been full of interesting twists. First books written and accepted, first books written and turned down. First year of reading 100+ books since I was a teenager.

I can't wait to see what is in store for 2012. I am going to try and get a plan together, but you know how plans go. They are much like the outlines of books... take time to create and are rarely followed! :)

For sure I will be writing. It is a balm to my thoughts and feeds that creative self that I have been starving for years. I have the following books to write (for sure):
Catch of the Day
All the Pieces
Garden of Eden

Beyond those I have lots of others that could be created. We will see how many characters make themselves known as well once I get All the Pieces (Willie's story) and Catch of the Day finished. Adam's book will be next I think. Maybe I will write another sci-fi book along the same lines as Maggie's. There are other players in that book that could get their own story.

All in all 2012 offers nothing but hope and open pages to fill with fun stuff.

Everyone my hopes and prayers go out to you!

Emotional rollercoaster

Last night was a typical emotional rollercoaster night for me. Received an email from one publisher informing me that Cain made it through the first screening. YEAH! Let the happy dance commence. Then, shortly after that I received another email stating that Toy Box was not a good fit for their lineup. BOOOOO!

Of course I am thrilled about Cain's progress but then to have my parade rained on shortly after was just irritating. I'm just glad I got the good news before the bad.

I have thick skin and that I know that not all of my books will be picked up right away. Reality is that there are thousands of people writing and submitting books, some much better than mine I am sure. So, for me to be accepted at all is a miracle in itself. Well, and the enjoyment I get from writing far outweighs the blow to my ego I take every time a book is rejected.

3 sleeps til Christmas! I don't know how much writing I will get done between now and then but I'm going to try and keep some sort of focus for the rest of the year.

Books I want for Christmas...

Below are the books I plan on either purchasing with gift cards or for myself starting Friday. Now, you might ask me why I am waiting until Friday to buy some of these because they are out already, and I will tell you why. Because if I buy them now I will be reading instead of writing and working. The list is growing each day because more and more from my favorite authors are being released this weekend.... so to keep myself motivated and on schedule for work I am forcing myself to abstain from buying or reading anything new. It is absolutely the hardest thing I have ever done... well, okay that is not true. BUT, it is one of the hardest things I have done recently.

Feel free to add books that you are looking at buying for yourself so I may partake in your guilty pleasures, too.

Laurann Dohner- Justice
Laurann Dohner- Brand (comes out Dec 27th!)
Sophie Oak- Found in Bliss
Kallypso Masters- Nobody's Hero
Patricia Cornwell- Red Mist
JR Rain- Christmas Moon (breathlessly awaiting the next Samantha Moon book!)
Cassandra Carr- Caught

Creative Juices Flowing.... sounds disgusting

How many times have you heard that phrase and pictured something not so appetizing? I am going to write today, or at least the characters in my head are suggesting we write today. I had one of those weekends that puts gray hair on weaker people and beer in the guts of others. With the sunrise on today I have decided that all the stress and angst from the weekend will just fuel the fevered typing and see if I can't get poor Willie finished and off to some publishers. I sometimes wonder why I can write pages of worthy material one day and nothing the next, but I guess its all because of these bodily fluids that must flow and stream someplace within myself. Still disgusting, right?

Wish me luck. Willie is facing off with the vampire Council of the NE USA today in my pages. She is pissed and scared, so I am sure she will utter some funny and irritating lines!

Catch of the Day

I love how stories come to me, or at least I understand the process now. I was working on Willie's story pushing her to conform to the outcome that I had originally thought would work... and out of no where comes another story entirely. So, Willie is sitting back, drinking coffee watching from the sidelines of my mind as I work through Erin's love affair with Jared and Brent. Erin, btw, is very happy about this because her relationship prior to her story was sad and miserable. Now that I am pouring her story on screen she is a much happier lady!

Maggie's Abduction accepted by Siren

Okay, so I had this story pop into my head about a woman who gets kidnapped by aliens. I wrote Maggie's story and she finds happiness in the end with her big hunk o' burning dominating alien. I submitted the story to Siren and guess what? They want it! YEAH! I am looking at an April 2012 release date. I'm so excited about this news.

I am still plugging along on Willie's book. She is at a cross roads right now and fighting me on the way the book should go. So, until she will relent and put her kittycat self to bed I am waiting. In the mean time, though, I am working on a MFM book about Erin, a woman scorned, and two beefy fishermen. :)  She is going on a vacation that was supposed to be for her and her fiancee. She finds her man in bed with another woman and decides that she really could use some time away and in the outdoors. This is the first menage book I have written. I can't wait for the characters to play out the book.

Cain's story is still out there with a few publishers to review. I will find the right fit eventually. I am waiting until Cain's story is picked up before I start work on Adam's book. His will be a lot of fun to write because the female character is more kick ass.

Lea and the Toy Box sent to publisher for review

Well, I finished my first BDSM short story and sent it off for review. Its a pretty intense little story and it was a lot of fun writing it. Lea and Mick, her husband and Dom, have a good time one evening when the kids are gone. Let's hope that they like the story as much as I liked writing it.

In other news, Willie's story is coming along. I am hoping to have the first draft done by the end of the month. Once its done I will go back to the Genophyte series and write Adam's book. Hannibal was going to get the second book, but I think Adam deserves his HEA before Hannibal.

Been writing, reading and still waiting

Willie's story is progressing nicely and I already have another couple clamoring to escape my head. I am sort of stuck on her right now, though, because the plot is at a cross roads. If I take her and Nick one way it will change the entire flow of the book, but it might be the better way to go. That is what I get for trying to jot down an outline. Usually the characters take the book a different direction that I originally thought it would go.

On another note, I am still waiting to hear back about the changes I made to Cain's book. The next book in that series is for Adam, but I don't want to start that one until I hear back again from the publisher. I am hoping that the changes I made will satisfy them, because I can't see a way to change his story again without losing some of the important flow.

I have found a few more authors that I really adore so between working and writing I have been trying to sneak in some reading. Right now I am on a sci-fi romance kick. There are some really good stories out there if you can dig them up. Actually, a few of the authors that I really like aren't even that well known. Gotta love the .99 books in the Kindle Store.

Heard back already... but they want changes

So, Cain's Salvation was liked by one of the publishers that I submitted to. YEAH! But, they want some of the story changed. So, I am trying to rework the first couple of chapters to get Cain and Sam together sooner. At least he deserves to meet his lady earlier in the book, so its okay with me to make the changes.

What this really means is that Willie is going to have to wait a week or so before I can get back to her story while I put Cain and his issues through the wringer. Poor guy! LOL

New book started!

I don't know about everyone else, but I tend to have many ideas running through my mind that could make a decent book. The newest idea I had is in one of my favorite areas: vamps and shifters. I have a new heroine and hero trying to keep themselves alive while being tempted by fates wicked sense of humor. Willie, short for Willamina, is a shifter partially turned vamp. So, she has many of the good traits of both sides, and some of the weaknesses. She will run into, and eventually fall, for an ancient, jaded, vamp named Nikola. I can't wait to have the story play out in my head so I can put it to paper. Wish me luck.

First run through, finished!

I spent most of the weekend in the bedroom writing and reading. I tweaked my neck and sat around sucking down ibuprofen and muscle relaxers. Not bad for a weekend, actually. But, the important news is that I finished digging Cain out of my brain. His story is now resting peacefully on my harddrive. I celebrated with a little dance and a victory wave of my arms. I love getting to that last sentence and know that you have created something that is a good work. Cain made it easy, though. His story tripped off my fingers sometimes faster than I could keep up. He made me laugh and cry, made me angry and disappointed. I am glad that he is the first to get a book and a mate.

Wish me luck as I get his story edited. I am sure that he won't enjoy the demeaning task of having his life gone through with a fine toothcomb, but that isn't is call. LOL

thirteenth chapter done...

Well, for a book that was supposedly only going to have twelve chapters it is growing in leaps and bounds. That is what I get for having characters that want to take the book further than I was going to. :) Two weeks is my goal. In two weeks I will have it written and read through. Then, off to an editor.

Cain's Salvation almost ready for publishing

I have been spending weeks writing the first installment in the Genophyte series. Cain is the first of a line of males that will have a story dedicated to him. His story is based on a kidnapping gone wrong and a woman caught in the middle of a conspiracy involving government officials and a slimy accountant turned criminal. He is taken by surprise by his own emotional evolution and the fact that she is a psychic "null".
