Hi, everyone. I had the opportunity to chat with a new Siren author, Erin Simone, and to promo her debut novel!
Oh, and she's graciously agreed to give one copy of her new release to one lucky commenter! See the end of the post for the deets.
Tell us about your latest book.
My new book Guardians of the Mist was just released through Siren-Bookstrand. The story is about my favorite subject, forbidden love. Graydon is a warrior/shape-shifter from another realm that is sent to Earth to track down and destroy Seraphina, a Halfling hybrid forbidden to exist. He comes face to face with her and a powerful sexual attraction grips him. Seraphina poses a threat to Graydon’s world, but he cannot bring himself to harm her. Instead, he will risk everything to save the woman he loves.
Plotter or Pantser?
I am such a Pantser. I would be lying if I said I outlined every story because I don’t. My creativity works best when I let the characters tell the story. I usually start with a general idea, and then I let the characters take the ball and run with it. I've tried outlining a complete story and it slows me down.
What makes a great hero?
I think a great hero is a protagonist that is brave and willing to take a risk even at his own personal expense. He shouldn't be completely perfect either, having flaws and overcoming them makes the hero much more relatable. I love to see a hero start off with certain issues inside himself, and he grows from them. He also is passionate, desirable, brave and of course he must be sexy as hell.
Do you have anything in common with your characters?
I supposed I do without consciously thinking about it. But it is not something I intentionally plan. My characters come to life in my head when I write. I am only observing it from inside their world, not mine.
Is there anything you won't write?
I write what I feel. I do not put a box around it in my mind. If it appeals to me and I think there is a good story there and it flows out of me, then I write it.
Do you listen to music when you write? If so, what type(s) do you lean towards?
Yes, rock, hip-hop, alternative, 80's. I'm all over the place when it comes to music.
Who are some of your favorite authors?
Laurann Dohner, Kresley Cole, Gina Showalter, Jade Black and Larissa Ione.
What are you currently working on, or what’s on the horizon?
I am currently working on a vampire novel called Whispers of Night and I just completed a novel about sexy alien warriors called Brotherhood of the Realm.
How can you fans find you on the net?
I can also be found on Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest.
Seraphina Banan is plagued by reoccurring dreams of a dark forest and a mysterious warrior shrouded in mist. Desire burns deeply inside Seraphina whenever the warrior appears to her. Graydon Camulos is a Guardian sent to Earth to track down and destroy the Halfling hybrid who is forbidden to exist. He is the mysterious warrior in Seraphina's dreams. Graydon locates Seraphina on Earth and a powerful sexual attraction grips him, causing a war between duty and desire to rage within him. Seraphina poses a threat to Graydon’s world, but he cannot take her life. Instead, he will risk everything to save her. Seraphina comes face to face with the stunningly virile male. She is irresistibly drawn to him and now realizes her dreams are real. Graydon knows his attraction to the beautiful hybrid is dangerous, but the bond between them eventually drives Graydon to betray his calling to be with the woman he loves.
The Guardian looked at her warily. His intense gaze caused a tingling in the pit of her stomach, and heat settled between her legs. She fidgeted uncomfortably.
“I promise you, Seraphina, I am very real.”
“How do you know my name?”
“I know lots of things about you, Seraphina.”
“Okay, since you seem to know my name, what’s yours?”
“My name is Graydon Camulos.” His voice was deep and rich.
Wow, his voice is sexy. Her body felt flushed.
She tried to concentrate on the danger she was in instead of how his presence made her feel. “What do you want with me, Graydon Camulos?” Seraphina watched as his eyes raked boldly over her.
“I want the knife for starters,” he warned in that same sexy, velvet voice.
“You need to leave. The police are on their way,” she bluffed.
“Wrong.” He lunged and quickly pinned her to the wall before she had time to react. He squeezed her wrist, and the knife slipped through her fingers and landed on the carpet next to him. Desire shot through her in dizzying currents. Unnerved, she tried to kick him in the groin, but he grabbed her inner thigh with his powerful hand. His touch sent a flood of sexual heat through her, white hot. She felt branded by his touch.
“I wouldn’t try that again if I were you,” he whispered in her ear huskily, pressing his full weight against her. She felt the tip of his nose as he ran it along her jaw line.
“You smell tempting,” he rasped against her throat. She could feel his hot breath tickling her neck.
“Let me go,” she breathed in reaction to his touch. She could feel every inch of his well-muscled body pressed against her. The contact was powerful. Her heart jolted, and her pulse raced. Seraphina felt like a magnet irresistibly drawn to him. She trembled breathlessly. The swell of his shaft pressed against her inner thigh, and she bit her bottom lip to stifle a moan. His punishing kiss replayed in her mind from her dream the night before. Seraphina watched as he dipped his head to stare at the swells of her generous breasts. A low grumble vibrated in his chest.
“What are you going to do to me?”
Graydon bent down, never taking his eyes off her as he picked up the knife. His face remained only inches from her body as he slowly rose. Graydon rested both of his hands against the wall on either side of her face. The warrior towered over her, his massive frame surrounding her.
Seraphina sucked in a breath. She was dismayed at the magnitude of her attraction toward him. Again, the overwhelming urge to draw him in pulled at her. She bit her lip as she stared into those blue eyes. Her breasts felt heavy. She felt passion rising inside her, clouding her thoughts. She balled her hands into fists as she tried to resist him.
