I had the privilege to interview Alex Carreras about Spanish Heat, the newest release from the Heat series.
After receiving a breakup text from his partner, Jaxson Mitchell was devastated. While waiting to board a plane for Spain with his boss, Dr. Chase Cameron, Jaxson finally receives a phone call explaining that his ex is moving out…and moving in with their personal trainer, Sergei. It seems that everything he thought he knew, he didn't.
Under normal circumstances, a trip to Barcelona, Spain, would be exciting even if it was for work, but why with his boss? And why does he have to look so good in his scrubs?
With no resolution, Jaxson boards the plane wishing for the best. But in the land of sangria, sandy beaches, and hot, sultry men, be careful what you wish for because it might just come true.
From departure to arrival, Jaxson Mitchell is torn between two different men in two countries, and he must decide which man he wants…or which wants him.
Q. Spanish Heat is the second in the Heat Series, how does it differ from the first, Summer Heat?
A. This book is about Jaxson Mitchell, Travis’s cousin, and one of the heroes of Summer Heat. The story begins in Dallas, Texas where Jaxson works as a Physician’s Assistant in an emergency room but mostly takes place in Barcelona, Spain, one of my favorite cities in this world. Jaxson is going to Spain with his boss, Dr. Chase Cameron for continuing medical education to keep his license current. Unfortunately, Dr Cameron in not his favorite person.
Q. Why did you choose to write a story set in Spain?
A. Firstly, my mother is Spanish and I used to live in Spain and went to school in Barcelona. It is a very beautiful country and Barcelona is a city full of culture, history and very sexy men.
Q. Can you read Spanish Heat as a stand-alone?
A. Absolutely! The common element is that the hero of Spanish Heat is the cousin of the hero of Summer Heat. Spanish Heat can be read without first reading Summer Heat.
Q. Have you already started writing the next Heat?
A. Yes. For Heat 3, I’ve reunited the characters of the first and second books bringing them back to Sycamore Hill Farm for a family wedding. And as we all know, a lot of things can happen when family is around, good and bad.
Q. What is your next release with your publisher, SirenBookstrand?
A. My stand-alone book, Cruising with Destiny, is scheduled for release at the end of May. It’s a reunion story that takes place on a cruise ship sailing the Western Caribbean. Sex, balmy breezes, electric aqua water and lush tropical islands, what’s not to like? Oh, and men having sex. Lots of sex.
